Articulate S2 Trio Crowned Regional Champions

Congratulations to Humzah Razzaq, Scarlett Morris and Eva Pryce (all S2) who were crowned Regional Intermediate Champions in the Rotary Club of Glasgow ‘Youth Speaks’ Public Speaking Competition on Sunday. Their convincing win comes after a successful preliminary competition in January in which the trio won the district competition.

Their success is particularly impressive, given the fact that the three had had no opportunity to rehearse together since their previous win in January. However, astonishing resilience and team spirit was shown by all three pupils. Mr Ruddy recounts, ‘even when it really looked as if we would have to withdraw, the students behaved as you would expect of St Aloysius' pupils. As 'men and women for others', their entire concern was for the well-being of team-mates. This showed through in their cohesive and lively performance, which was a clear winner in terms of collaboration and individual verve.

Congratulations to the Humzah, Scarlett and Eva, for a memorable performance. Thanks finally to parents and siblings, in particular Christopher Morris (P6 Mull), who enthusiastically led the St Al's support in a very crowded Pollokshields Burgh Hall.

We wish the trio the best of luck in the national competition in Telford later this year.
