Ready, Set, Ho Ho Ho!

It’s beginning to feel like Christmas at the College! Over the weekend, pupils and staff took part in the annual Glasgow Santa Dash, a 5K run through the streets of Glasgow, starting and finishing at George Square.

19 pupils from S4 took part, alongside Mrs Piggot (Head of S4); Mr Meechan (Assistant Head of S4); Mrs Erskine (Depute); Dr Kilgour (Assistant Head); Mrs Gallagher (Pastoral Secretary) and Dr Brennan (Biology). Mrs Piggot also brought along two little helpers along to assist with the run.

The team were raising funds for Glasgow Children’s Hospital (formerly Royal Hospital for Sick Children). The S4 year group have set themselves a target of £1500 for this charity.

The team were in good spirits when they met early on Sunday morning at the Apple Store in Buchanan Street, to get ready for a 10am start.

The streets of Glasgow were filled with music and helpful support from thousands of spectators. Many of the runners also took part in a sing-a-long of Christmas songs, and this year over 8500 Santas took part.

The St Als team were all finished by 11.15am – each team member received a lovely medal in the shape of a snowflake. These will be awarded properly at next Tuesday’s Celebrating Success Assembly.

Thanks to the pupils and staff who took part and raised a fantastic total for the S4 charity.
