Kindergarten assessments evaluate the children's language and communication skills. The assessment lasts around 45 minutes and is currently completed with a member of the Early Years staff in the Kindergarten setting.
Primary 1 assessments are also completed in person and are led by our Head of Early Years. This takes the form of some small activities and puzzles as well as simple stories and games to assess emergent reading, writing, and numeracy. The assessment takes around an hour.
Primary 2 and 3 assessments are led by our Early Years and Junior School staff. There are three short age-appropriate papers covering Language, Maths, and Spelling. These are age-appropriate and staff can adapt them to suit particular needs as required.

Our S1 and S2 digital assessments are based on the CAT4 assessment and will evaluate:
Senior 3 to Senior 6 applicants do not sit a formal assessment, rather, the family will meet with a member of our Senior Leadership Team who will look at previous reports and results if applicable.
Whatever your child's age, we will make sure the experience is relaxed and that they feel welcome at the College. The entrance assessment is simply a way for our staff to understand each child’s latent ability. It is not a ‘pass or fail’ and we will be assessing areas your child will have already covered in their current school, although the language used may be slightly different.
If you or your child is feeling worried at the prospect of assessment, our admissions team is always on hand to talk you through the arrangements. These calls are more common than you may think, so please do not hesitate to seek reassurance.
The Primary 4 - S2 Entrance assessment for 2024/25 applicants will take place on Saturday, 18th January 2025. Register here.
