The Dr. Morag McDonald Science Fair

The Dr. Morag McDonald Science Fair

Our Junior School Science Fair has been a staple of the St Aloysius’ College calendar for over 20 years. Starting in 2003, the annual event has seen over 1000 projects and over 50 prize winners. Each year the experiments and studies are more extravagant than the last, and everyone puts a great amount of effort into their project.

The Science Fair has been an inspiration for many previous participants who went on to study and work in various scientific fields including medicine, chemical engineering, and astrophysics.

Our fair is now named after the late Dr. Morag McDonald – a College science teacher who sadly passed away in 2014. During her time at the College, Dr. McDonald was a judge at our science fair, as well as teaching science to our Primary 7s. The Science Fair has been renamed to recognise her impact on Science education at St. Aloysius’ College.

Dr. McDonald was a great inspiration to many pupils, and we hope that her name will continue to ignite a passion for the subject in the hearts of the young people who take part in the fair. She has been greatly missed by staff and pupils.

The next Dr. McDonald Science Fair will take place as part of our first-ever

Junior School Science Festival on Wednesday, January 24th.
