Pupil's Blog: My S1 Experience

Today's blog post comes from an S1 pupil who joined St Aloysius' College in August 2019.

Before I joined St Aloysius’ College, I never really felt like I fitted in.

I had heard many good things about St Aloysius’ College but I have to admit, I was hesitant about joining. I didn’t want to leave everything I was already familiar with including my school and the friends that I knew. I was nervous that the children at the college wouldn’t accept me.

"After attending the Open Evening, I knew that St Aloysius’ College was where I belonged."

At the Open Evening, I was shown around the school and the classrooms by some lovely S6 pupils. I remember the classrooms looking so inviting. I was amazed by the work of the pupils- from their beautiful posters to their interesting displays, it really inspired me. My hesitation for joining the college, soon turned into excitement. I couldn’t wait to start!

"When it was time for my first day at the college, as expected, I woke up feeling very nervous. However, when I put my new green blazer on, I felt pride."

I have made many great friends since starting St Als, friends who I will hopefully have for life. They have really helped me to settle in and adjust to college life.

I am no longer fighting a battle against going to school, as this school is a place that I feel at home. I cannot think of a place I would rather be.
