Our St. Aloysius’ College 3-18 curriculum offers smooth progression from Kindergarten to S6. In the Junior School, it is supported by Specialist Teaching provision.
Our Specialists have dedicated classrooms in the Junior School, including our newly developed Cooking and STEM area, for Science, ICT, Art and Modern Foreign Languages. All our children are taught PE in our Sports Hall and go to our Performing Arts Centre for Music and Drama.
For Games (P4-P7), our young people are taken by our Sports Staff to our Sports Grounds at Millerston for Rugby and Athletics and Stepps Playing Fields and Glasgow Green National Hockey Centre for Hockey.
Science
Our young people experience a broad and challenging Science curriculum through classroom teaching, investigations, presenting and outdoor learning. We have an annual Science Festival, we present all our children for the CREST Awards Scheme and our Primary 7 year group celebrate our annual Science Fair, demonstrating and presenting a diverse range of experiments and investigations.
Modern Foreign Languages
Some of our MFL Specialist Teachers are native speakers. All pupils are taught Spanish and Italian throughout the school year. Our pupils experience a broad and challenging MFL curriculum with many opportunities to celebrate the languages. Our Primary 3s celebrate the annual Carnivale Festival and Primaries 6 and 7 pupils have an annual cultural school trip to Milan and Lake Garda.
PE and Games
Our Early Years classes have 2 PE sessions per week with a PE teacher. Classes from Primary 4 to Primary 7 have 1 PE session and a 2-hour Games session each week. In the first term, all girls play Hockey and the boys play Rugby. In Term 2, they continue Hockey and Rugby and Primaries 4 and 5 go swimming. In Term 3, all Juniors classes do Athletics.
Music
All pupils, from Kindergarten to Primary 7, have one weekly Music session. Our Music Specialists lead on various performances throughout the school year, including our Early Years Show at Christmas and the Primary 7 end of year show, involving Primaries 5 and 6 as the chorus.
