The latest St Aloysius’ College School Show production was an absolute show stopper – as our Music and Drama department brought Footloose The Musical to life on the big stage!
Filled with iconic 80s tunes, the cast and crew did an amazing job of bringing the story of Ren and his friends – who try to overturn their small town’s ban on dancing. The cast were electrifying in their performances, helped by the wonderful behind the scenes crew who helped make it all happen.
Hear from Director Ms. McCartin and Musical Director Ms. Fyfe:
“It’s been a joy to see our young people bring this fun-filled musical to life, and truly inspiring to witness the range of talents within our community, combining singing, acting and dancing to accomplish what you see on stage.
“We have been working tirelessly since the start of term in our new Performing Arts Centre, with our pupils dedicating up to four days after school per week to the show in addition to their other commitments. It has been a real team effort from students and staff alike, from our stage management and wardrobe departments as well as our choreographers and crew working towards an 80s extravaganza that does justice to the cult classic.
“We wish to honour the wonderful school show tradition upheld by our much loved Miss. Singh. We want to take this opportunity to thank her for all she has done for Drama and the Arts at St Aloysius’ College. She will be missed, but we wish her all the very best in her next chapter!
“Our S6 student body has been the lifeblood of student productions, and saying goodbye to them this year will be a huge loss, but we are delighted that so many have been involved in their final St Al’s show and we hope younger years will carry the torch for future productions. It is truly a wonderful experience and opportunity for pupils across all year groups to come together to produce a little piece of magic on stage.
We hope that the performance will leave you foot-tapping and singing along to some classics. We’ve had the playlist on repeat for the last eight weeks so we know there’s something for everyone! Please be aware that dancing IS prohibited everywhere within the town limits of Glasgow, so we invite you to sit back, relax, and cut Footloose!”
Our production of Footloose The Musical will run for two more nights on October 11th and 12th.
