Schola Cantorum Performs in Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral
On Sunday 29th October, the Schola Cantorum sang two services at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. The day began with an 11am full Solemn Mass, and ended with Evening Prayers at 3pm.
The choir performed a wide-ranging repertoire, which included works by contemporary composer Jonathan Dove as well as classic works by Vaughn Williams, Herbert Howells and Edward Elgar.
Speaking to Miss Archibald, who conducted the choir, she congratulated the pupils on their fine performance, particularly given the unusual acoustic of the cathedral. “It’s an almost hexagonal building, and the choir had never sung in anything like that before. We’ve been asked back, however, so it must have gone well!”
The choir is now looking forward to a concert with the Senior School choir in November, as well as the Schola Trust dinner.
Thanks to Miss Archibald who conducted the choir, Mr Reid who played the organ and the Mr Bartlett and Mr O’Duffin who went along to Liverpool to support the choir.
