Anti-Bullying Week 2022

This week we have been supporting Anti-Bullying Week, an annual nationwide event that tackles the problems of bullying and aims to show young people that they always have support available when they need it.

We kicked off the week with Odd Socks Day, where we all wore the funkiest colour combos we could to help highlight that everyone is different, and that’s what makes us unique. Throughout the week, we’ve been spending time thinking about the impact of bullying within our community and further afield.

On Friday, our Senior School pupils spent extra time in Form Time to reflect on the week and what we should take away from it. We ended our reflection with a special prayer to help remind us of the roles we all play to make sure everyone feels supported and heard: 

Grant, gentle Father,
that your Spirit may give us the will and the courage
to act to make a difference,
in order to make real your kingdom among us,
so that we may we all live together
in peace, truth, justice and love,
sharing the resources of the earth.

Amen.

Our Junior School pupils were treated to a performance from HOPE Theatre Company – which told the story of a young girl looking back on her school days and how she handled being the victim of bullying. We had a lot of moments to pause for reflection, but also enjoyed being able to sing and dance along to some of the more happier scenes, as well as being able to get involved in some audience participation. After the show, some of our P7s stayed behind to speak with the actors in workshops, and share what they had learned from the play. Everyone had a great time – a huge thank you goes to the HOPE Theatre Company for performing their show for us.
