Black Belt for Benedict

Congratulations to Benedict MacLennan-Patton (S4) who has been awarded his first black belt for his achievements in Judo. This is a significant accomplishment for Benedict, as it marks his transition from novice to practitioner.

The achievement of a black belt is the culmination of ten years of work; Benedict was awarded his first belt back in March 2007. Whilst certainly not the end of his Judo journey, it is, nevertheless, a very important milestone.

This accolade comes after Benedict gained enough competition points to secure his first black belt. The Judo star was competing in the 2017 Judo Scotland Clyde Challenge Grand Prix competition held at the Lagoon Sports Centre in Paisley on Sunday 28th May. Benedict performed fantastically, taking the Gold medal in the Cadet U81kg category and the Bronze medal in the Senior U81kg category.

The 2017 Judo Scotland Clyde Challenge Grand Prix was also Benedict's first outing as a trainee Judo referee. Benedict completed an "Introduction to refereeing" course a couple of months ago.

Congratulations to Benedict on this momentous achievement. We wish him the best of luck as a black belt!
