Rugby Players Selected for Glasgow Warriors Academy and Commonwealth Youth Games

Rugby Players Selected for Glasgow Warriors Academy and Commonwealth Youth Games

We are celebrating two of our pupils, Johnny V. and Matthew U., who have been selected for the Glasgow Warriors Academy for 2023/2024. This is evidence of their hard work this season, as both players were part of the squad that took St Aloysius' College to Murrayfield for the U18 Schools Shield final, where we came home with a 30 – 22 win.

Director of Rugby at the College, Mr. Thomas Davidson, added:

"We are delighted for Johnny and Matthew on the recent announcement from Scottish Rugby which confirms both boys as FOSROC Academy contracted players. Johnny and Matthew worked incredibly hard last season to put themselves in a position to secure a contract aligned with Glasgow Warriors and I am delighted they have been rewarded for their efforts.

The rugby programme at St Aloysius' College provides many opportunities and it is truly inspiring for our young players to see a clear pathway through Johnny and Matthew. We wish both of them every success in the season ahead and look forward to watching their progress."

As well at this, both Matthew and Johnny will be taking off for Trinidad and Tobago with Team Scotland to take part in the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games. The 7s squad will be captained by Johnny, and are currently in an intensive training programme before heading off to the games in early August.
