S4 World of Work Week: Lenovo Site Visit

A group of S4 pupils were welcomed to Lenovo’s offices in Braehead earlier this week as part of our S4 Work World of Work week - where we are introducing our pupils to working life as they explore opportunities in different industries.

On our visit to Lenovo, the world’s number 1 PC manufacturer, we heard from a number of employees with different roles in the company ranging from development, manufacturing, quality control, and sales. It was great to get some insight into the different roles at the company, and find out how different skills are used throughout the company that lead to different career pathways. 

We were able to visit the lab and see a range of hardware devices including a water-cooled server. We received some valuable career advice about the range of roles available in technology as well as the flexibility to change roles and progress in a career. One of the most important things we learned that learning is something that we won't do just in school. As the tech world is ever-changing, it's important to keep your skills and knowledge up-to-date, something that are pupils are no stranger to as they are just finishing off their exams.

We loved getting to see Lenovo in action - and we hope to come back again to visit soon.
