As Christmas is a time of giving, our young people have been working hard to make sure that everyone is able to have a Christmas this year.
Across all year groups and both Junior and Senior schools, we've been raising funds and donations for local charities that help support a variety of different people.
During Advent, S1 pupils have been contributing to the Glasgow’s Spirit of Christmas charity. The charity is in its 7th year of supporting local families affected by hardship or living in poverty. Pupils were asked to donate gifts to make sure every child is included at Christmas and enjoys a magical experience. We asked them to become a ‘Secret Santa’ to a local child in need this festive season. Pupils donated a gift for a particular age group, boy or girl or both, from the age of a baby to a 12-year-old.
Our Arrupe Voluntary Service Group also recently organised a donations drive for the Glasgow North Baby Foodbank and other local charities. These were loaded up by our volunteers and delivered to the charities by Ng Homes. Thank you to the staff and pupils from all year groups who offered donations. Our collections will continue into the New Year.
In our Junior School - Mr. McClintock and our House Captains organised a Giving Tree in reception. KidsOut's Giving Tree initiative provides gifts for children who have escaped domestic violence, being forced to flee their homes quickly and leave all possessions behind. Everyone can take part and help make Christmas a little brighter for a young person. The House captains also organised the food and vouchers for the Christmas hamper delivery which were delivered on Friday.
Thank you to everyone who donated, and to everyone who helped us organise our charity events and drives.
