Fr. Jose Mesa Visits St Aloysius College

Fr. Jose Mesa Visits St Aloysius College

Fr. Jose Mesa Visits St Aloysius' College from Rome.

St Aloysius' College had the privilege of hosting Fr. Jose Mesa, Secretary for Education of the Society of Jesus, during his visit from Rome. It was wonderful that he was joined by previous headmaster, Fr. James Hanvey SJ whose presence was a wonderful occasion for the school.

Their visit was an expression of support for the College, reinforcing our shared mission of promoting academic excellence, faith, and service. His time with us included engaging conversations with pupils and teachers, as well as a deeply meaningful celebration of Mass.

Throughout his visit, Fr. Mesa took the opportunity to meet with pupils, encouraging them to embrace the Ignatian values of service and leadership while reflecting on their faith journey. He also met with staff, acknowledging their commitment to fostering the spiritual and academic growth of every student.

The celebration of Mass, led by Fr. Mesa, was a particular highlight of the day. The service, held in St Aloysius’ Church, brought together the school community in prayer and reflection. Fr. Mesa’s homily was both inspiring and thought-provoking, offering wisdom drawn from his global perspective as a leader in Jesuit education.

Fr. Mesa’s visit from Rome served as a powerful reminder of our place within the worldwide Jesuit network, connecting us to a legacy of education, spirituality, and service. His words left a lasting impression on our community, inspiring pupils and staff alike to continue striving for excellence while living out our Jesuit values.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Fr. Jose Mesa for his visit and for his support of St Aloysius' College. His time with us was a truly enriching experience.
