P7 Pupils Set the World on Fire at the Ignite Conference

Four representatives from Primary 7 have attended the annual Ignite Conference, this year hosted by Barlborough Hall School in Derbyshire.

The Ignite Conference is for P7 Jesuit pupil leaders, and all Jesuit Prep Schools in the UK send representatives for the occasion. The conference aims to encourage discussion of the shared values across Jesuit schools.

The pupils arrived in Derbyshire on Sunday and were greeted by families from Barlborough Hall School, who hosted them over the course of the two-day conference. Aileen Brady, Head of the Junior School, commented on the ‘warm welcome’ the children received.

The representatives from the Junior School also had the exciting opportunity to catch up with Juan, a former St Als pupil who now attends Donhead Prep School.

The conference was filled to the brim with exciting activities. On Monday, the children began with an I-Spy hunt around Barlborough Hall, learning about the history of the school. The P7 pupils then headed to Sheffield for a tour of the Crucible Theatre, followed by a workshop at the Sheffield Museums exhibition and a time of quiet reflection in the Cathedral.

The day ended with an art activity. Each child created a papier maché flame, which were collated to produce a symbolic model of the St Ignatius quotation: “Go forth and set the world on fire”.  This was a fantastic end to a day of exciting activities and thoughtful reflection.

Thanks to Barlborough Hall School for hosting the conference, as well as families of the school for looking after our pupils.
