John Hylands RIP

It is with the greatest regret and sadness that the College has heard of the unexpected and untimely death of former Chairman of Governors of the College, John Hylands. May he Rest in Peace.

John was Chairman from 2013 until June 2019. He had served as a Governor since 2002. He was a dedicated Governor and Chairman who, in a very understated way, gave freely and hugely of his time to ensure the very best governance. He championed the College throughout his tenure, discretely and supremely effectively. Even after he retired as Chairman he was a great advocate for the College.

"John was a man of great faith and integrity but also possessed a wicked sense of humour and a genuine sense of fun. He had a mastery of detail and an encyclopedic knowledge of Catholic Scotland today. The College has lost a great friend and supporter and his departure from this life is a real loss to so many of us." - Matthew Bartlett, Head Master.

All our thoughts and prayers are with John's family: his wife Janette, his children John and Katherine both of whom attended the College, his grandchildren, and all those impacted by his death.
